Hindustan Times on India's strong rebuke after being 'blamed' for Afghan clashes

On India's position in the border tensions Pakistan and Afghanistan and former's blaming New Delhi for the same, Hindustan Times reports that the ministry of external affairs on Thursday said that it's an old practice of Islamabad to blame its neighbours for its own internal failures - hosts and sponsoring terror in particular. Border clashes erupted between Afghanistan and Pakistan twice in a week over latter's accusation on the former of harbouring terrorists, a conflict Islamabad has often indirectly blamed India for. Responding to a question on Pakistan blaming India for Afghanistan's assault, the report adds that the MEA spokesperson on Thursday said Pakistan giving shelter to terrorism is well known. Karnataka cabinet decides to bring rules to check RSS activities, Indian Express

 

Amid an uproar after state minister Priyank Kharge’s statement, Indian Express reports that the Karnataka cabinet on Thursday decided to bring rules to check RSS activities in government places. The decision was taken based on Karnataka Information Technology and Biotechnology Minister Priyank Kharge‘s letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking a ban on RSS activities and its affiliated organisations, the report adds. Kharge said it is left to the discretion of the government whether to give permission to carry out such activities. Read the full report here.

 

French PM Sébastien Lecornu survives two no-confidence votes by MPs, BBC reports

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu survived two no-confidence votes, BBC reports, after his pledge to suspend pension reform won him the support of left-wing MPs. He narrowly won the first motion by 18 votes and survived the second, brought by the far right, by a larger margin. Lecornu lived to fight another day - but his feeblest of governments faces plenty more challenges, the report says. Marine Le Pen of the far-right National Rally previously said "this isn't a political crisis, it's a crisis of politicians". Read the full report here.

 

Amit Shah declares Chhattisgarh's Abujhmarh Naxal-free, India Today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday declared Abujhmarh hilly forest area in Chhattisgarh's North Bastar Naxal-free after 170 Maoists surrendered. Welcoming the surrendering Maoists, who joined the mainstream, Shah applauded their decision to renounce violence and have faith in the Constitution of India, India Today reports. The development comes a day after 27 Maoists, including 10 women, surrendered to security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. The report adds that the group also included two hardcore cadres from the feared People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion-01, one of the most dangerous units of the insurgency network. At least three Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza amid ceasefire, Al Jazeera

 

Despite a shaky ceasefire, at least three Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks today, medical sources tell our team, Al Jazeera reports. An Israeli government agency says the opening of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt for the movement of people will continue to be delayed. Israel’s defence minister told the military to prepare a “comprehensive plan” to defeat Hamas should the Gaza ceasefire collapse. The report says that Hamas returned the remains of two more Israeli captives but admits that it will need specialised equipment and assistance to locate bodies still buried beneath the rubble.
