Rahul Gandhi targets Centre over Uttam Nagar tensions, Hindustan Times reports

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday targeted the NDA-led government at the Centre over communal tensions in Uttam Nagar, Hindustan Times reports, while urging residents to not “fall for provocation.” Rahul condoled the death of a 26-year-old man in clashes between members of two communities which took place on March 4. NDTV on clouds hovering over Delhi-NCR

 

The skies remained overcast on Thursday as temperatures hovered around 19 degrees Celsius in Delhi and surrounding regions, NDTV reports, a day after dust storms, thunder, lightning and rains brought relief to the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the city, with rains and winds disrupting normal life and impacting electric grids across Delhi and NCR. At least eight bodies recovered in Comoros from boat carrying African migrants, The Straits Times

At least eight bodies have been recovered from a boat carrying African migrants that was found on the coast of Comoros, officials on the Indian Ocean archipelago nation said on Thursday. The Straits Times reports that the authorities believe the migrants were attempting to reach Mayotte, a French territory located between Mozambique and Madagascar. The vessel was discovered late on Wednesday after residents of the coastal town of Mitsamiouli heard cries for help and alerted police. Read the full report here.

 

India Today: Gautam Gambhir moves Delhi HC against deepfakes

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has approached the Delhi High Court against the misuse of his identity through AI-generated deepfakes and impersonation. India Today reports that the move comes after a surge in fake videos and unauthorised content using his name, face and voice online. The report adds that the civil suit, filed before the Delhi High Court, seeks protection of his personality rights along with damages of Rs 2.5 crore and immediate takedown of such content. Gas prices in UK and Europe soar after strikes on energy facilities in Qatar and Iran, BBC

 

The price of gas has risen sharply in the UK and Europe following an attack on Qatar's Ras Laffan energy complex, BBC reports. In a strongly worded post, US President Donald Trump has warned Iran against further attacks in Qatar, after "extensive damage" to facilities there. The president also said the US "knew nothing" about Israel's attack on the South Pars gas field in Iran on Wednesday, the report adds.
