Supreme Court says, conversion from Hinduism, Buddhism or Sikhism to other religions will lead to loss of SC status: Indian Express
The Supreme Court Tuesday ruled that a person who professes a religion other than Hinduism, Sikhism, or Buddhism cannot be a member of a Scheduled Caste, Indian Express reports. A two-judge bench headed by Justice P K Mishra said that conversion to any other religion results in the loss of Scheduled Caste status. The report says while upholding the April 30, 2025, order of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the bench said the position is made clear by the Constitution (Scheduled Caste) Order, 1950. PM Modi cautions on US-Iran war in Rajya Sabha, Hindustan Times reports

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, while delivering the Rajya Sabha address, urged citizens to brace for challenges arising from the ongoing US-Iran war in West Asia, Hindustan Times reports, noting that its impact on energy supply chains and inflation could have long-term implications. Modi said the government is working on all fronts to manage the situation and safeguard public interest. BBC: Israel and Iran continue to strike each other after US says plans for talks with Tehran remain 'fluid'
The White House told the BBC plans for talks with Iran remain "fluid", after Iranian officials denied any contact with the US had taken place. However, Tehran has had "points from the US" via mediators as a potential precursor to talks, an Iranian foreign ministry official told the BBC's US partner CBS. The oil price fell sharply when Trump first posted about talks on Monday, but has since climbed back above $100 a barrel. Read the full report here.
India Today on Harish Rana allowed passive euthanasia by Supreme Court
Harish Rana, the first person in India to be granted passive euthanasia by a court, died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi on Tuesday, bringing an end to a case that marked a significant moment in the country’s legal and medical history. India Today reports that the 31-year-old had been in a vegetative state since 2013 after suffering severe head injuries in a fall from a fourth-floor balcony while he was a BTech student at Panjab University. Al Jazeera's explainer on ICE agents deployed to US airports

United States immigration agents have begun deploying to major airports across the US to help ease long security lines as a government funding standoff has left many airport security staff off work. Al Jazeera reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were reportedly sent to 14 airports, including Atlanta and New York’s JFK airport. Officials say the agents will support airport operations but will not carry out passenger screening. About 50,000 TSA officers have not been paid due to the partial US government shutdown, after Congress failed to pass funding legislation on February 14. Read the full report here.
