"Spoke to mother, aunt cheerfully 15 minutes before death": Pilot's uncle in NDTV report

NDTV reports that the 25-year-old Air India pilot, who was found dead at her Mumbai home, spoke to her mother and her aunt 15 minutes before the family got the crushing news that she had died. Ruling out that Srishti Tuli died by suicide, the family has alleged she was murdered and accused her boyfriend Aditya Pandit of harassing and manipulating her. Srishti's uncle Vivek Tuli has filed a complaint with Mumbai Police and an FIR has been registered, the report adds. Aditya has been arrested under charges of abetment to suicide. Hindustan Times Live on Hemant Soren oath taking ceremony

 

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren took oath as the 14th chief minister of Jharkhand at the Morabadi Ground on Thursday, Hindustan Times reports. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Soren at 4 pm. Soren, who retained the Barhait assembly seat with a margin of 39,791 votes in the recently held elections, will take charge of the CM office for the fourth time, the report adds. Mexico leader responds to Trump claim she agreed to stop migration, BBC reports

BBC reports that Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has appeared to contradict President-elect Donald Trump’s claim that the two have struck a deal to stop migration to the US border. After a phone call on Wednesday, Trump posted online: “She has agreed to stop Migration through Mexico, and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border.” Sheinbaum responded quickly that she had reiterated Mexico's position was not to close borders, but to address migration while respecting human rights, the report adds. Trekking above 3,000 metres in Himachal's Dhauladhar range temporarily banned: India Today

Kangra district authorities in Himachal Pradesh have imposed a temporary ban on trekking activities above 3,000 metres in the Dhauladhar range, citing safety concerns amid winter conditions. India Today reports that the announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, who emphasised the harsh topography and risks posed by recent mild snowfall and plummeting night temperatures. While Kangra valley has been in a prolonged dry spell for over six weeks, the Dhauladhar range recently experienced light snowfall, leading to significant drops in nighttime temperatures. Russia strikes Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Al Jazeera

 

Ukraine’s power infrastructure has come “under massive enemy attack”, according to the country’s energy minister, Al Jazeera reports, leaving more than one million people without electricity. In a Facebook post on Thursday, Energy Minister German Galushchenko said “attacks on energy facilities are taking place across Ukraine”, and that the national power grid’s operator had “urgently introduced emergency power cuts”.
